Quick answer: Magaluf is about 29 km from Palma Airport (PMI) on our calculated route, and Palmanova is just before it. By car, taxi or private transfer it's around half an hour with no traffic. The public TIB A11 bus runs direct from the airport and is timetabled at about 40 minutes to Palmanova. This is one of Majorca's shortest package transfers.

Palma Airport (PMI) terminal: arrivals, ground floor

Palma Airport has a single passenger terminal, with boarding modules A to D. You arrive on the ground floor (floor 0). Jet2 says its check-in desks are 723 to 738 (Jet2 airport FAQ).

Meeting reps and taxis: The official meeting point is in the centre of the arrivals floor, and tour operator desks are on floor 0 (Aena). Your operator's rep checks your name and sends you to your coach. Private drivers meet you in arrivals as your voucher says. Take taxis only from the signed rank outside the terminal (Aena). The TIB and EMT bus stops are across the road from arrivals. Exact desk, rank and stop positions are not mapped.

Approximate route: 29 km by road from Palma Airport (PMI) terminal to Magaluf (resort centre). The calculated free-flow drive time is about 33 minutes. That is an estimate with no traffic, so allow longer. The TIB A11 airport bus is timetabled at about 40 minutes to Palmanova (palmaairport.info). Shared coaches stop at several hotels, so allow longer.

Towns along the way: Palma (~8 km, near the route), Bendinat (~22 km, on the route), Portals Nous (~23 km, on the route), Son Caliu (~25 km, on the route), Palmanova (~27 km, on the route). Most of the route is motorway (the Ma-20 and Ma-1). We have not mapped individual service stations.

We'll estimate the distance using our precomputed main route plus a straight-line distance for the last stretch. Hotel search uses OpenStreetMap Nominatim, so not every hotel will be found. If yours isn't, click the map instead.

  • Money: Spain uses the euro. Cards are widely accepted, but carry a little cash for small cafés, markets and tips. Tipping is not compulsory: rounding up or leaving a small amount for good service is common. If a card machine offers to charge you in pounds, choose euros.
  • Data on arrival: many UK networks include Spain in their Europe roaming add-ons, but rules and daily charges differ, so check yours. Alternatively, install an eSIM at home before you fly.
  • Transfer didn't show? Call the number on your voucher and your operator's 24-hour line, keep evidence and receipts. See our step-by-step guide.

  • Health cover: your UK GHIC (or valid EHIC) covers state healthcare in Spain on the same basis as residents. It isn't a replacement for travel insurance. Source: NHS.
  • Tourist tax: the Balearic sustainable tourism tax is usually paid at your hotel, even on a package. For 2026 it is €4, €3 or €2 per adult per night in high season (1 May to 31 October), depending on the hotel category, and €1, €0.75 or €0.50 in low season. 10% VAT is added on top. Under-16s are exempt, and the rate halves from the ninth night. Source: Illes Sostenibles (Balearic government).

Arriving at Palma Airport

Palma has a single terminal. You arrive on the ground floor (floor 0). Aena says the official meeting point is in the centre of the arrivals floor, tour operator desks are on floor 0, and you should use only the signed taxi rank outside the terminal. The bus stops are across the road from arrivals.

Your options

Package coach transfer

If your package includes transfers (Jet2holidays packages generally do, and loveholidays and On the Beach usually sell them as an extra), find your operator's desk or rep in arrivals. Coaches to the Calvià coast often combine Palmanova, Magaluf and Santa Ponça drop-offs.

Private transfer

Direct to your hotel and priced per vehicle. On a short route like this, it's mainly about saving waiting time and avoiding other hotels' drop-offs.

Taxi

Use the official rank. Balearic taxi fares are regulated, and Aena links to the fare guidance. Our estimate is approx. €42 on weekdays or approx. €47 at night, weekends and holidays to Magaluf, and approx. €40 / €44 to Palmanova (estimates, last checked 20 October 2026), worked out from the official Mallorca taxi tariff. See the official tariff and our worked estimate below, and ask for a receipt.

TIB A11 airport bus

The A11 runs from the airport arrivals stop to Portals Nous, Son Caliu, Palmanova (several stops), Magaluf (Pere Vaquer Ramis, Olivera, Camí Porrassa), Santa Ponça, Peguera and Camp de Mar. Contactless card fares are cheaper than cash. Tap in and tap out. Check the current timetable on tib.org.

Fares (palmaairport.info, independent, checked October 2026): €6.75 cash or €4.05 by card to Palmanova. Check TIB before you travel.

Before you choose a hotel position in Magaluf

Parts of Magaluf, centred on the Punta Ballena strip, fall under the Balearic responsible-tourism rules (Decree Law 2/2024, in force until 31 December 2027). Drinking in the street is banned, shops in the zone close from 21:30 to 08:00, drinks promotions and pub crawls are restricted, and all-inclusive hotels in the zone are limited to 3 alcoholic drinks per person per meal service. If you're travelling with children or want quiet nights, check how close your hotel is to the strip. Our Majorca hotel checklist has more.

These route fares are estimates, last checked 20 October 2026. They are rounded to the nearest euro, for up to 4 passengers, and exclude Christmas/New Year and mountain supplements. Estimates are our arithmetic: the official reference tariff applied to our calculated road distance (OSRM/OpenStreetMap). They are not official fixed fares. The meter decides, the driver may take a different route, and some municipalities and longer interurban trips can use their own approved rates, so check the tariff card inside the taxi. The official tariff figures above are the government's; only the route totals are ours.

How to avoid being overcharged

  • Use the official rank outside arrivals, never someone who approaches you inside the terminal.
  • Meter or fixed fare: agree which before you set off. In Majorca and Tenerife taxis are metered, so check the meter starts at the flag-fall amount. At Dalaman the cooperative publishes fixed fares, so confirm the fare for your resort with the driver. At Antalya, photograph the fare board and insist on the meter or the board price.
  • Know the supplements. Airport and night/holiday rates, and extra passengers, are legitimate. Luggage is free in Majorca under the official tariff.
  • Ask for a receipt (recibo in Spain, fiş in Turkey) with the licence or plate number. In Majorca the tariff says a receipt must be given free.
  • Card vs cash. Majorca's tariff says card payment can't be charged extra. Elsewhere card acceptance isn't guaranteed: carry some euros or lira, and pay in the local currency rather than pounds if offered a conversion.
  • Note the licence number and keep the receipt if you want to complain. Complain to the local town hall (Spain) or the airport and cooperative (Turkey).
