- Money: Turkey uses the Turkish lira. Keep some lira in cash for minibuses (dolmuş), small purchases and optional tips. If a card machine offers to charge you in pounds, choose lira.
- Data on arrival: Turkey is outside UK networks' EU roaming zones, so check your network's rates or install an eSIM at home before you fly.
- Transfer didn't show? Call the number on your voucher and your operator's 24-hour line, keep evidence and receipts. See our step-by-step guide.
- Emergency number in Turkey: 112 (ambulance, fire, police). Source: GOV.UK.
- Health cover: the UK GHIC is not valid in Turkey, so make sure your travel insurance includes medical cover.

Arriving at Dalaman
UK flights use the International Terminal. Jet2 says all its Dalaman flights depart from it. The domestic terminal is next door. After passport control and baggage reclaim, go out through arrivals. Tour operator reps and private drivers meet you there, as your voucher says. The airport says the Havaş shuttles leave from the airport parking area, and taxis are run by the Dalaman Airport Taxi Cooperative.
Option 1: package coach transfer
Jet2holidays packages generally include coach transfers, and TUI packages with TUI flights generally do too. loveholidays and On the Beach usually sell them as an extra. Coaches to the Marmaris area often serve Marmaris, İçmeler and Turunç, so check where your hotel falls in the drop-off order.
Option 2: private transfer
On a 95 km route, going direct can save a lot of time, and the price is per vehicle, so it's worth comparing for families and groups.
Option 3: taxi
Airport taxis are run by the Dalaman Airport Taxi Cooperative, whose contact details are on the airport website. It's a long trip, so the fare is large. The cooperative publishes fixed fares; see its published fares below and confirm the price before you set off.
Option 4: Havaş or Muttaş shuttle bus
According to Dalaman Airport, Havaş runs from the airport parking area to Marmaris bus terminal via Dalaman, Ortaca, Köyceğiz and Gökova. Drivers will drop off at designated points on the main route if you tell them in advance. Muttaş, the Muğla municipal transport company, also runs airport services. Times are published on havas.net and muttas.com.tr. At Marmaris bus terminal, take a dolmuş or taxi to your hotel. Late-night UK arrivals may not have a convenient shuttle, so check before you rely on it.
Which option should you choose?
| Your situation | Our suggestion |
|---|---|
| Transfer included | Use it. Bring water and snacks, as it's a long run. |
| Family or group, not included | Compare a private transfer with your operator's price |
| Couple, light luggage, daytime arrival | A shuttle bus plus a taxi from the bus terminal is the budget route |
| Staying in Turunç | Expect to be one of the last drops. Private is worth comparing. |
Departing Turkey
Jet2 says flights from Turkey to the UK involve an extra security check before boarding, because of UK government requirements. Allow plenty of time at the airport.

Fair taxi fares from Dalaman Airport (DLM)
Official or published taxi fares, plus clearly labelled estimates where an official per-km tariff lets us work one out. Where there's nothing official we say so, rather than guess. See all four airports on our airport taxi fares page.
| Airport to | Distance (cooperative's figure) | Fare per taxi (lira) | Euro / sterling price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marmaris | 105 km | 5,000 TL | €100 / £85 |
| İçmeler | 110 km | 5,200 TL | €100 / £90 |
| Turunç | 130 km | 6,000 TL | €115 / £100 |
How to avoid being overcharged
- Use the official rank outside arrivals, never someone who approaches you inside the terminal.
- Meter or fixed fare: agree which before you set off. In Majorca and Tenerife taxis are metered, so check the meter starts at the flag-fall amount. At Dalaman the cooperative publishes fixed fares, so confirm the fare for your resort with the driver. At Antalya, photograph the fare board and insist on the meter or the board price.
- Know the supplements. Airport and night/holiday rates, and extra passengers, are legitimate. Luggage is free in Majorca under the official tariff.
- Ask for a receipt (recibo in Spain, fiş in Turkey) with the licence or plate number. In Majorca the tariff says a receipt must be given free.
- Card vs cash. Majorca's tariff says card payment can't be charged extra. Elsewhere card acceptance isn't guaranteed: carry some euros or lira, and pay in the local currency rather than pounds if offered a conversion.
- Note the licence number and keep the receipt if you want to complain. Complain to the local town hall (Spain) or the airport and cooperative (Turkey).
